Client review: "I'd be happy to recommend Champagne Collectors to anyone wishing to sell champagne. A fair price and very simple process - sent the item yesterday and received payment today. Great communication and service!" Jenny P - Aug 2024
The Selling Process:
Contact us with either a request for a valuation/quotation or to sell (VQS) your Champagne(s).
Confirm the label(s) you wish for VQS by email detailing numbers / producers. Include in your email photographs of the bottle(s) that should include a close up of the label, the foil area and if possible, a closer up image showing the clarity of the wine inside and the level either via the neck of the bottle or by turning the bottle upside to and photographing the wine level.
We will send you a reply email with either further questions and/or an offer.
You/we may prefer a site visit, especially for volume VQS, to be agreed by email and a follow up telephone call. For volume VQS we can offer the services of our Master of Wine, Christopher Burr, who upon an agreed fee will visit your premises and offer a fully detailed valuation/quotation.
Upon agreement of sale, we request that the wines are sent, safely packaged, and by recorded/registered/signed for postage. We can also arrange a meeting in central London (Wapping).
Postal address for sending wines: Champagne Collectors. 45 Arnold Road. CO15 1DE. United Kingdom.
Once we receive your parcel we will inform you of safe arrival or any transportation issues/damages. We will study the wines and on most occasions at that point we will pay the agreed amount via bank transfer which we will then request your bank details. If we arrange a meeting in London or we have visited your premises, we will confirm a price on site and pay immediately via bank transfer then arrange a convenient time for collection. Unfortunately we can not pay cash.
If any wine(s) sent are felt to be below the stated quality we will revalue and if no new price is agreed, and if wines are sent which are not as per description to include counterfeit, we reserve the right to charge the seller for the return of their items.
Sending Champagne by post:
We recommend if sending via your local post office that you do so either via special delivery (signed for) with adequate insurance or at least with proof of postage. For multiple bottles we recommend a courier service via the likes of UPS / DHL / FedEx. Lastly, for larger collections you should look to use the services of bespoke courier agencies and again those who can show they hold adequate courier insurance.
Packaging:
You should look to package individual bottles separately or for multiple wines use wine shipping boxes that give adequate protection for bottles in transit.
Additional advice includes:
- Stating FRAGILE clearly on the package.
- Stating senders name and address.
- When sending Champagne within original presentation box, make sure there is sufficient protection so that no damage occurs as parcels do go through a lot of bumps and bruises on their journey - Damages to the original Champagne boxes during transit can effect the end value of the wine.
- Inside your parcel, include your name / email address / telephone number.
- For sending wines from outside the UK to us, we advise you to study the following information regarding custom duties / taxes and more: https://glassofbubbly.com/how-to-send-wine-samples-to-the-uk-from-the-eu-rest-of-the-world/
