Review: Roger Brun - Réserve Familiale Grand Cru Extra Brut - 2004
Submitted: 29th July 2023
Oh my goodness! It's heaven or as close as you will get whilst we enjoy what our wine world offers us. Roger Brun (winemaker Philippe) with an outstanding vintage that is really top quality now (2020) and dare I say another few years could add to the magic it offers.
Toasty, honey comb, dried apricot on the nose. Toasty, soft citrus, honey, apricot and so much more in flavours. It's fresh, clean and young in personality, yet holding deep characteristics with the most desirable taste experiences. It really stands out amongst Philippe's other vintages around the early 2000's.
If you ever pop past Ay next door to Epernay whilst touring the Champagne region then do phone up this winery and book yourself a visit.
