I had the honour and pleasure to drink this wine twice. The wine was never shipped, but hidden in Rheims during the second world war. It remained wonderfully fresh for a 52 year old wine, with wonderful complexity developing fro meticulous cellarage and slow ageing. The flavours are of gentle ripe fruit and freshness in the background with nutty mineralogy and honeyed character from the aged ripe fruit. A wonderful wine with huge persistence, yet beautifully gentle and subtle.
