This bottle of vintage Champagne offered a double fine experience. It was opened and enjoyed alongside Oz Clarke, the great wine author and television celebrity.
Mushroom, dry old oak, prunes and dried apricot nose. Just like the smell you get when you enter a Champagne house's wine production area, that musty and delicious grape smell.
Bubbles still exist, though fading somewhat, remained for a while in the glass and was part of the tasting experience. As the wine remained in the glass it certainly performed stronger on the nose and in the flavours.
Soft acidity, mushrooms, citrus, peach, prunes, saline.
A wonder vintage Champagne tasting experience.
