It may not be the most famous Champagne house, but it is by far one of the most highly regarded and sought Champagne brands in the world. Krug offers something that most Champagne houses cannot offer in the same way, 'Exclusivity'.
When you step into the front door of Krug Champagne you enter the pinnacle of the conceived high society, and noting that they offer entry to only one group per day, means there are far fewer people who have visited Krug, than most other big brand names in the region.
Krug Private Cuvée Extra Sec 1952 - "Very memorable experience, sweet, deep in character, with the likes of caramelized/tart dried fruits. Could easily be mistaken for a finely aged Sherry/Brandy."
The oldest vintage of Krug reviewed on Champagne Collectors as of the time of writing belongs to Christopher Burr MW, when he tasted the Krug - Vintage - 1928: "I had the honour and pleasure to drink this wine twice. The wine was never shipped, but hidden in Rheims during the second world war. It remained wonderfully fresh for a 52 year old wine, with wonderful complexity developing fro meticulous cellarage and slow ageing. The flavours are of gentle ripe fruit and freshness in the background with nutty mineralogy and honeyed character from the aged ripe fruit. A wonderful wine with huge persistence, yet beautifully gentle and subtle." - Christopher Burr MW
