Decent hiss from the pressure when opening, quite promising start.

Pouring into glass the wine is a warmer, honey golden colour, mid lightness and not as dark as recent Dom Perignon I have had from the 1970's. The bubbles are there initially, tiny streams showing in the glass (Lehmann Burgundy Wine Glasses) though after four/five minutes they are sparse.

Aromas slow to release, served initially slightly chilled, then release a pasty savoury character with dried apricot, dark berry skins dried, soft smokiness, marmalade. The nose really does deliver and engages.

There is no permutation in flavours, they are attention grabbing and throwing their personalities at you are random moments. We've a decent mid to low acidity still, freshness that cleanses the palate initially, though a quick complexity presents itself. I am getting dried peach, smoky walnut (and shells), sea breeze, chalky, cured ham with some aging. Length shows more yeasty profiles to include a nuttiness, toast stale bread. The length is decent, but not showing anywhere near of that which the aromas do.

Can be debated is this vintage is over the hill? Not for me, it is still showing character and this story, inside the bottle, will continue to evolve.
