James Bond’s Aston Martin screeches to a halt with Bond and Caroline inside, Bond leans closer, wrapping his arm around her, he says “As you can see, I have no problem with female authority”, Caroline isn’t impressed by the high-speed driving they’ve just been doing, she looks down, followed shortly by Bond as a compartment in the car swings open revealing a bottle of 1988 Bollinger Champagne – Grande Année, chilling way, with just one glass. Flustered, Caroline says “James, you’re incorrigible, what am I going to do with you” as she knows the inevitable, her lips will be on his soon enough, “Well, let’s toast to your evaluation, shall we?” just before their lips lock.

This is one of the best on-screen moments showcasing Bollinger in a James Bond film, fast cars, sex, danger and Champagne.

Whenever I enjoy a glass of Bollinger, I can't help but be reminded of the spectacular espionage adventures of 'James Bond' and especially when I get to enjoy a bottle that was actually featured in a James Bond, the Grande Année 1988 featured in Pierce Brosnan's 'Goldeneye', released in 1995.

Aroma: A very memorable experience, still very much holding up to time, with a fine complexity, with notes of sweet, baked, burnt and glazed caramel and honey, mushrooms, forest floor, with green apples, along with notes of coffee, oak, nuts and faint dried fruits.

Flavours: Still good with acidity, with notes of lemon, yeast, biscuits, oak, baked apples and delicate nutty characters.
